Rettungssanitäter Training in Berlin (EMT-Level)

Not exactly. Rettungssanitäter is an EMT-level entry qualification — 520 hours of training that prepares you for entry-level rescue service work in Germany. The state-recognised paramedic profession is Notfallsanitäter, a separate 3-year training path. Many Rettungssanitäter go on to Notfallsanitäter later, but the two are not the same qualification.

No — all classes are taught in German. What we do offer is English-speaking support throughout: advice calls, enrolment help, and preparation for your Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter appointment, in English, Russian, Turkish or Arabic too.

520 hours in total: 160 hours theory, 160 hours clinical placement, 160 hours at an ambulance station, and 40 hours final exam. Full-time, that's 3–4 months, Monday to Friday. Part-time, it's spread over 6–8 months.

The course fee is 2,632.00 €. With an approved Bildungsgutschein (education voucher) from the Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter, your cost can drop to 0 € out of pocket. Funding decisions are made by the Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter — not by MAAS Berlin West — and there is no automatic entitlement, so we recommend talking to us before your appointment.

Entry-level Rettungssanitäter roles in Berlin often pay in the region of 2,300–2,900 € gross per month. These are Orientierungswerte — orientation figures, not a guarantee — actual pay depends on your employer, hours and experience.

You're qualified for entry-level rescue service work. Many people use it as a stepping stone toward Notfallsanitäter, the 3-year paramedic profession. MAAS Berlin West also runs other AZAV courses — Transportsanitäter and Ersthelfer (first aid) — if you want to build your qualifications further.
