What is vocational training (Ausbildung) in Germany?

Vocational training in Germany isn't a single class — it's a structured qualification route regulated by the state.

We won't pretend otherwise: the Rettungssanitäter and first aid courses are taught in German. Here's why that still works for internationals, and how we help.

Why it still works

Instructors demonstrate procedures hands-on, materials use consistent medical vocabulary you'll pick up fast, and classmates are often in the same position. Many students start with the basics and grow into the terminology during the course.

What German level you need

There's no fixed certificate we require. For first aid, basic German is generally enough — contact us and we'll assess together. For the longer Rettungssanitäter course, stronger German helps; we'll talk through your level honestly before you enrol.

How we prepare you

Our team advises you in English from the first call: explaining the course structure, gathering documents, and preparing you for the Bildungsgutschein conversation with the Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter.

A Bildungsgutschein is an education voucher issued by the Agentur für Arbeit (employment agency) or Jobcenter (local job centre) that allows an eligible person to have an approved course, like our AZAV-certified Rettungssanitäter training, paid for. It's assessed individually — there is no automatic entitlement, and MAAS Berlin West doesn't decide who receives one.
